The Savannah Shamrocks traveled to Athens, Georgia, this past weekend with an inexperienced squad and came away with a tough loss to North Atlanta in the first game of the day and a big win against Columbus in pool play. The results were good enough to qualify for the Cup Quarterfinals. Unfortunately, Savannah was up against a very good Atlanta Old White side which one the game knocking the boys out of tournament. All-in-all a pretty good showing for some young players for Savannah that made the four hour drive up to Athens and step in the right direction. Hopefully, the experience earned at the GRU 7s will translate into more appearances in the Cup rounds of future tournaments. Up next for the men’s team is the Augusta Back Nine 7’s on June 22. The Savannah Women’s team will play this weekend at the GreenVegas 7’s in Greenville, SC.
